Highway To Hell
Uncontainable Fury. Rumbling Chariot.
Author's Notes: This poem is a continuation of Dharrsheena Raja Segarran's "The Chronicles of Red." Please go read her story before you read mine. Thank You.
There at night, he laid in bed
Dangerous thoughts, in his head
They danced
They pranced
They teemed
They schemed
They stuck their teeth
In his skin, and beneath
In the dark corners of his heart
His mind started to concoct a deadly art
...
Her breathing and hair tickled his neck
She'd been with him this whole week since he'd been an emotional wreck
An arm and leg across his body, skin against skin, is what she was feeling
She could sense he was awake and staring up at the ceiling
Blinking her eyes, she parted them wide
She knew there was something deeply concerning that he was hiding inside
...
"Babe," she kissed his neck, getting to look at her again
"Won't you go to sleep, or do we need to indulge in carnal sin?"
For the past seven days, she'd been here for him
Practically at his beck and call, practically on a whim
Rubbing her nose against his neck, she nuzzled for an embrace
She wanted his attention on her, and not off into space
...
"I'm sorry, Winona, I really truly am.
The thought that my brother's gone hurts me as a man."
He cried a lot these past few days, more so than in years
Winona loved him through it, she helped him shed his tears
"She chopped him to pieces, left him mutilated.
That bitch was too crazy, and surely way too motivated."
He pulled her tighter, a hand firmly on her ass.
What Ruby did to his brother, he just couldn't let pass.
...
The anger took control of him, she could feel his skin burning, like it was a hex.
"Hey babe, calm down. Come on, why don't we have sex?"
She started to shift position, and slowly climb on top
But he had grabbed her, pulled her down, and said to "Stop."
"You've had me all week, more than three times a day.
Is your body now weak? Do you not want to play?"
...
"I want you," he said, "but I want Ruby too.
I want you, but please understand that I'm not through."
He rubbed the hair on her head and brought her close to his chest
Then he relayed why he was feeling so stressed.
"My anger, my rage, I'm a danger. I'm afraid.
I feel like I'm caged, about to blow like a grenade.
I've done all I could, I've thought, I've prayed.
You've always been here for me, but I want more than to just get laid."
...
Smacking his face, he rubbed his hand down the length of his jaw.
His desire for revenge could be his one fatal flaw.
"Michael," she said, "I want you happy and with me.
Michael, I know you need more than my body to just be pleased."
She hugged him close and made sure it was tight
She clutched onto him, making him safe all through the night
"Michael, like an angel I don't want you to feel like you have fallen.
If you're going to take action and take charge, you have to make sure you're all in."
Pulling him in, she left a kiss on his cheek
She helped him to feel strong whenever he was weak
...
"She took away my brother, a man who helped raise me.
She took away my brother, the man who would praise me.
He taught me everything he knew.
From school to cars and girls. He taught me how to flirt, and that's how I got you.
I'm thankful for my brother, for all the time we had.
Her anger isn't the only thing important; I too am now mad."
...
"She's on your mind.
I can tell that you wish to harm her, she's who you wish to find.
She's on your brain.
I can't stand another woman being there. She's driving both you and I insane.
I can feel the pain.
I want the best for us, but now your heart is a strain."
...
"I remember at the crime scene where the police were talking.
When I got there and saw her, she smiled at me as she was walking.
She was covered in his blood, dripping everywhere.
All of this because my brother had other girlfriends, he had an affair.
I remember when they put her in the squad car.
The flashing lights, the sirens wailing, and the policeman's badge star.
Ruby, even handcuffed, laughed and she giggled.
I want to throttle her, and see how she wriggles.
Ruby, do you remember what you said that day in the jury?
What you said sent me in a fury.
Ruby, even though you had showered, on you his blood I could still smell.
You prideful bitch, you said "I can't wait to meet him in hell.""
...
"Well, you know what they say?
It's a phrase that goes way back in the day.
Over your brother's death we have cried and mourned.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."
...
"Do you know why they say that about a woman, but never about man?
It's because they know of the real dangers he's capable of, with his own two bare hands.
When a man is fueled by emotion, being guided by a calculating, cunning plan.
The pits of hell aren't deep enough to contain the wrath of a man.
That's why we haunt the earth after death, and continue to roam the land.
No wall is too tall or wide enough. He'll make it topple, and no longer stand."
...
"So Michael, what will you do, tell me what do you intend?
I know you're not bluffing, I know you're not playing pretend."
"It's simple, Winona, I go and take revenge.
An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth, I will have my brother avenged."
Then with a passion, he took charge, giving into their lust.
Like the ocean, she took his motions, as he pounded into her with thrusts.
She was the sea and he was the lightning, discharging all of raw his emotion.
They were loud, they were proud, they raised quite a ruckus, a commotion.

...
After he took a shower and got dressed, he went and grabbed the keys.
In the driveway, in the night, he breathed and faced the breeze.
She stood there in the doorway, after kissing him, watching him walk away.
She couldn't stop him. She couldn't hold him. She knew she couldn't keep him at bay.
She felt down. She felt sad, she wouldn't, for a time, have him around.
In the doorway of his house, she stood there in a nightgown.
She loved him, she wanted him, but she knew he couldn't be stopped.
Off to avenge his brother, to avenge the loved one into pieces that he was chopped.
The car, its engine; its gas tank was completely filled.
The Challenger, American Muscle, his brother left it to him in his will.
In the doorway, in the car, tears from them were both shed.
He turned around to face her, and this is what he said.
"I'll return. I promise you that I'll go to hell and back."
The rumbling V8 roared away, he peeled off, in the Hellcat.

You're throwing surprises with the change in POVs. So Ruby's ex-boyfriend has a brother, Michael. He's just as douchy as his brother, lol. I was holding my breath reading your poem. I was so afraid Michael would succeed in harming Ruby. That's when I realised how attached I am to her. I can't wait to see how the next part turns out to be. I hope Ruby is untouched but then again, this is your story and I wouldn't wanna influence you in any way
