High

A Nonet

By Kale SinclairPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I was once an orchid planted in

your hand painted window boxes.

Your love gave me life until

my roots fell from your sight.

Empty pillboxes

is what became

of me, while

you got

high.

Loved your word choices in this, addiction has too much power :( Beautifully penned.

The contrast between the initial nurturing and the subsequent downfall makes the poem deeply affecting.
