Hiding in Plain Sight
I am not really here
One step
At a time
Hop, skip, jump
Right out of time
Sleep on the sidewalk
Listen to the crying
Recognize your face
Don’t recognize mine
Dirt on my toes
Dirt in my nose
Knots in my hair
Legs like a bear
Scrape my knees
On the cement
Ask a stranger
For a cent
Take my time
In the sand
Holding out
My hand
Wonder what’s for dinner
Walk a mile to get there
You see me
But you don’t
To you
I’m now an animal
Useless scraps
Ignorance traps
Look to the sky
Wonder why
Step in the river
Clean my skin there
Wake up from chronic sleep
Just to see you weep
Brush my hair
Or shave it off
From dumb
To numb
To overcome
Who are you?
Who am I?
Create a whole new life
This one will no longer
Suffice

Damn. Where are you getting all these ideas? This was also fantastic. You've got a very unique voice in your writing. And the direction you take is always surprising. Which makes it impossible not to scroll down. I saw not one line where I could've pinpoint your whereabouts. I love how fearless you are. That's very attractive to me in poetry. Are you one of my favourite authors now? Yes, yes you are! 🤗❤️
