Hiding Behind A Writer's Mask
Challenge 2025: Mask We Wear
Poet
On A Piece Of Paper
Enter Ideas In My Head
Try to hide my thoughts
Fictions
Inner dreams in my mind
Calling from beyond
Try to share It with words,
I only know how
Only if they knew, some are true
No one knows me
So, I write behind a writers Mask
Horror
How we try to forgot nightmares in our head
Open to accepting the past, we
Run from in our head
Rushing trauma memories
Over the hill to writer's corner we go
Riddance to face our fear
(We All Hide Behind Our Writer's Mask, to tell the truth Of Our Past)

Very clever take on the challenge! I find it much easier to write from events in my life than to keep track of a plot-line or characters.π΅βπ«
This is so true! I use writing as a form of therapy to digest the things that happened to me in my past. Never thought about it from this perception. Great poem, Mariann!
So very true well done Mariann
Absolutely TRUE! Writers communicate themselves and their experiences all throughout an amalgamation of words.
I love this, Mariann. "We hide behind our masks, to tell the truth of our past." I think you're right. Hiding in plain sight.
These masks are making me crazy...bringing truths out. Time to hide again. Love the thoughts M.
A hauntingly honest reflection on the role of creativity as both confession and concealment. Your closing lines tie the entire concept together perfectly.
Everything is autobiographical, I suppose βΊ
I really like how you explored the idea of writing as both expression and protection.
Omgggg, you know what? You are soooo right about this! Loved all your Acrostics!
This was such a clever idea. Oh I agree with the poetic bit. Some lines in my poems β I hide behind the complexity of. In my fiction β many could find me and my life hidden somewhere in it. This is all starting to sound so relatable. Then here comes the horror. Reminding me that I still have a lot to unpack. This was very well done Mariann π€β€οΈ
Brilliant work Mariann! πͺπΎπ
Exceptional work, Mariann! Loved the format and the overall message!
Cool acrostic there, Mariann. And true too. We tell stories that reflect ourselves.
Nicely done, Mariann <3
