Hide & Seek

A poem

I will not play hide & seek with negativity.

I will not hunt or chase something

I need less of in my life.

It can follow me where it likes.

It’s existence will be acknowledged

then sent along its way.

It can ring the doorbell all it likes,

but no one will be there to let it in.

It clings to the backs of people around me,

and tells them to share it with me.

Negativity isn’t meant for sharing,

yet they never seem to understand.

Understand why it’s following you

and put it in its place.

There’s no room for it to be a permanent fixture,

Give yourself some grace.
