Hidden Love

Afraid of hate

By Stephanie Colella Published 4 years ago 1 min read

The streets were filled glitter,

But her heart was getting bitter.

Yesterday was a parade of love,

Today, she received a shove.

Now, the flag laid on the ground,

And there wasn’t a single sound.

She was called horrible names,

For her choice of flames.

At work, she hid her orientation,

Because of the older generation.

They didn’t respect her choice,

And made fun of her voice.

She felt like she had to hide,

and more often she cried.

When would she be real,

Or stop having to conceal?

Then, one day out of the blue,

She met a girl, who made her new.

She started to find how she felt,

And her heart started to melt.

They went a date,

And several more, it must’ve been fate.

Now, they are in happy,

And it is all very sappy.

It isn’t always going to be all well,

But it is worth it, so what the hell.

She stormed into work with a smile on her face,

And put a picture of them on her personal space.

No one said a word,

Not a whisper, or even heard.

She was setting a tone,

That it was her decision alone.

Now, she feels true,

With the love strong like glue.

Together they will fight,

For true love is always right.
