Hey Little Birdie, What You Got To Say?

A tongue-in-cheek free verse poem

I think I’ve got a new-found friend

But then again, I can’t be sure

I just know he comes around

A whole lot more than before.

He used to stop and say hello

My dogs knew what he said

They would smile at him

And tilt their heads

Which he would just ignore.

He came onto the balcony

To feast on the insects, there

His chirpy chirp expressed his glee

Or maybe he was asking for more.

It’s now got to the point

Where he always seems to be there

I think he thinks it’s pretty good

Free board and insects too

I wouldn’t mind and I don’t care

Except I don’t think it's very fair

He craps all down the windows

And on the back of the chair.

If he keeps that up he’ll soon realize

He’s no longer welcome here.

Till next time,

Calvin

[Author's note: This is only the second free-verse poem I have done. It is a nonsensical poem about this little 'willy wagtail' that seems to be eyeing a new home on my balcony. He chitters away non-stop and swoops on he insects as they arrive. Quite cute really, except that he 'craps' more than a cow, and always down the windows or on the chairs.]

Wonderful poem Calvin, and I have the same complaints about birds. They always get our windshield. I think this one bird watches us, or it could be a bird just like him, they all look the same, and their messes are all the same too. Nicely done Calvin.

I love this poem, Calvin, because I love birds. I’m a bird watcher - We have birdfeeders all over the backyard. The stupid Siskins fly under our porch and hit the door and then I run out there to see if they’re knocked out. And yeah the white splotches, ick!!

Great free verse!! We feed birds, and they are great to watch, especially in the morning right outside our kitchen window. They can make a mess, both with dropped birdseed and other droppings. Thankfully, hubby cleans that up on occasion.💕💗

Haha, I loved the ending! Yes, birds always look lovely, except for when they drop their business; you sit on a bench and later find out that there's a huge white (sometimes different colors, too) stain on the back of your pants. Ewww, I swear, that moment I just want to make the bird do sit-stand 10 times 🤣🤣😂 Loved the poem, it was fun to read.

If you could just sort the crapping out!

It’s nice to have a new companion, even if he’s a bit of a troublemaker!
