Heterochromia
definition: a difference in coloration in two anatomical structures or two parts of the same structure which are normally alike in color

One eye is blue, the other green;
Sometimes I wonder if that’s all they’ve seen.
“You have beautiful eyes,” they say.
I guess I should be grateful, but I’m not okay.
Heavy tears, they fall daily,
Red lava swamps land and sea,
I try hard to hide my pain,
To appear happy and free.
Like a blue drifting iceberg,
Secreting its bulk below,
If they bothered to query,
Or I risked letting them know.
They ask me how I’m doing.
Deception again, “I’m fine.”
I shouldn’t make it awkward;
Rose tinted glasses applied.
We all seek a connection -
Want that compass needle shift,
The wonder of a rainbow -
It’s fleeting presence, a gift.
Azure sky and verdant trees,
Calm winds with no storms revealed,
One day I’ll be brave enough,
Today, I remain concealed.
