Hestia - Ekphrasis

Poetry response to 'Hestia' an original painting by Furrah Syed

By Matthew KirkPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Enarmoured in Love, of who we will become,

Endowed with wings of golden spirit.

We must not fly too close to the sun,

Like Icarus, a moth,

Ecstatic and brazen,

Longing to be consumed within it.

Be humble before Hestia

and a Phoenix will be crowned,

She is the light within us.

You can see her, you can find her,

In the eye of the storm.

She'll be the calm within the chaos.

Blessed are the brave,

Who are turned over by the tides,

Rippling through, the Emerald oceans of infinity's mirror.

Roughing out the waves,

just to watch the horizon afire

and to taste the feathered sun beams glimmer!
