Heroes Are Over Rated Sometimes

Hero’s leave as the story ends

Heroes Are Over Rated Sometimes

Heroes are over rated sometimes,

They arrive too late or not at all,

They love the sound of cheering,

But fear the quiet fall.

I waited for someone shining,

To save what I could not hold,

Instead the dark stayed honest,

And the truth stayed cold.

Spiritual strength is quieter,

It limps instead of flies,

It survives without applause,

And never explains why.

Heroes leave when stories end,

And credits start to roll,

The broken stay behind to clean,

And pay the final toll.

I learned not to look upward,

For rescue dressed as grace,

Salvation rarely wears a cape,

It wears a tired face.

Love does not need a spotlight,

It bleeds behind closed doors,

Heroes fear what lingers long,

And avoid these wars.

Sometimes survival is victory,

Even when no one sees,

Heroes are over rated sometimes,

The quiet ones are key.

I became my own witness,

When no one came through,

That was the moment I understood,

What strength really knew.
