Charles Dickens had an affair

Dr. Seuss was a racist

J.K. Rowling is a transphobe

If we look with a big enough telescope

We will find these and countless faults

In our stars

For here there be humans

Not gods

And should we condemn them for acting as such

In the public eye

Just because we enjoyed their art

Or should we treat them as any other

Flaws and all

For mythological they are not—

Flesh and blood we are all

Perhaps it is true

That the brighter they burn

The closer they are to implosion

Leaving a dark void behind
