There's a feeling
That always returns
Just when you thought
You were getting away
Your chest feels vulnerable,
Open to the wind to blow through
Your heart feels cold
Your body feels old
The burden on your soul feels too heavy to hold again
There's a sight
That always returns.
When you were forgetting
What the world looked like that way
Your eyes begin to blight
Colors become dark, like wine
And it sends shivers down your spine.
Just when you thought you left it all behind
Your mind was waiting
To remind
Worse than the last time.
You're afraid
Scared
Like a little kid again
You can feel something ominous looming
In the dark room with you
You're not sure where
But wherever you look
You feel as if you're staring directly at it
You can't get away
Even when you shut your ears
You can still hear your greatest fears
Even when you close your eyes
You can see it there
Even when you hide under the covers
You can feel it weighing down on you
You can't help but cry.
It feasts
And you can feel it
Feeding
On you
Slowly
“WHERE ARE YOU!” you scream.
“Here,” a voice returns.
There's nothing around, but you heard it as if it spoke directly in your ears.
As if it was your own thoughts.
You look down at your hands,
And understand
What drives you mad.
