First, she saw her shadow,

She was dirty,

Impure,

Unworthy,

Useless,

And

Unloved,

She glared at her shadow,

She was disgusted with herself,

Until she placed her feet in the sea,

Feeling its loving embrace;

She stared intensely at her reflection,

She loved her smile,

Her eyes,

Her curls.

The sea always reflected the truth,

And for the first time,

She saw beauty,

Worthiness,

Love,

Usefulness,

And,

Purity.

She realized that the things they had said,

The horrible things she had told herself,

Over, and over again,

Were untruths;

She saw the truth through those untruths,

That was the day,

That she turned the tide into something beautiful,

For the first time in her life;

She learned to embrace wholeness,

And;

Love herself.
