Hello, Sadness

Hello, Sadness

My sadness would like to say hello to your sadness.

It would like to sit silently,

soaking up the words you cannot speak

over noontime coffees.

My sadness would like to get to know your sadness.

To walk beside you

not quite hand in hand

but so close that the heat from our skin

sends jolts of electricity into our brains

startling our synapses out of submission,

for even just one second.

My sadness would like to pause

by a puddle of still rainwater

only to find your reflection staring up at me.

To make contact.

To feel a connection.

My sadness saying hello to your sadness.

I felt this. We all want someone to relate our sadness too. Lovely poem.

  • It's always reassuring to have someone who understands. Loved your poem!
