Heart to Heart

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 9 days ago 2 min read

If you press your heart close to someone else’s chest,

Give it time, give it breath, give it rest—

Just Two rhythms start learning how to fall in line

Beating slow, beating soft, beating in time.

Like two little babies in an incubator,

Finding comfort in the pulse of each other—

There’s a magic in the closeness, a truth so kind,

Baby, Just lean your heart beat into mine.

Chorus

Heart to heart, we’ll find the same rhythm,

Even if the world feels too loud to live in.

If you’re calm and I’m shaking, baby, pull me in close—

Let our bodies remember the truth we've always known

Maybe mine will slow to yours, maybe yours will rise to mine,

But either way, love, we’ll meet in the middle every time.

Heart to heart—

We’ll be there together..

Verse 2

I’ve carried storms inside me I can’t always explain,

Little sparks of fear that turn to thunder in my veins.

But your arms are my harbor where the waves forget to roar,

Where the trembling finds a rhythm it can trust once more.

And I love the thought that healing isn’t something we must do alone—

Sometimes it’s just two heartbeats learning how to make a home.

Bridge

Maybe love is just the courage

To stand close enough to hear

The quiet truth inside another—

“I’m right here,

I’m right here.”

And maybe hearts were made for syncing

When the world feels out of tune—

A little borrowed steady breathing

Underneath a silver moon.

Verse 3

So if you ever feel the shaking,

If the night grows sharp and long,

Come find me in the doorway—

We’ll make our own steady song.

Two heartbeats pressed together

Till the fear begins to fade,

Till the rhythm finds its courage

In the safety that we’ve made.
