Heads of the Hydras

In Frost and Fire

Birthed in fiery blaze,

Hydras rear their newborn heads,

Before hearts ice claims.

Author's Note

Since the beginning of time, life in our universe has undergone often explosive cycles that echo the past while offering something not quite the same. From the birth of new stars to the joining of two individuals into a host of their offspring; the violent noise of conflict and the silence of peace; the striving for growth being inevitably molded into either acceptance or resistance to the turning wheels of time. Like a hydra, as these cycles end they raise new heads again and again. At some point, these cycles will end, and all warmth and light will succumb to darkness. Knowing there is an end to the universe does make the moments of life in the cycles both tragic and precious in their fragility.
