Heads Held High
Never Let Them Silence You
Writing weighs heavy like the world news has been daily
Executive orders straddle me purple bruised
Peoples existence are getting wiped like crumbs of kitchen tables post crunchy toast breakfast
Words sometimes don’t feel potent enough resistance
Sometimes silence sings self care
Until the right light sentence breaks chains free
And us creatives emerge
Crickets in the night
Call us cockroaches in the lamplight
But we will raid you (back) in our own ways
For you can burn a book and ban us gays
But we will write the sequel of our love and paste it cross your windows in purple lip smacking kisses
You can damage documents and remove names
But I will scream them out nightly between the pages
Beds were never just for sleeping
No, they are for vivid living
My blanket a flag of resistance
My awakening a big fuck you
Because I will live another day
Regardless of your policies
We, will live another day
Proud

I loved everything about this poem!
And he shall be remembered..., ...as the worst president ever, an abominable businessman & human being, a complete huckster, & our darkest hour. Sing it loud & sing it strong, Oneg.
