"He who forgives ends the quarrel"

Poem inspired by African Proverb

By The ServantPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

He who forgives ends the quarrel

and perhaps the friendship too.

Silence follows an act that’s wrongful

which, among friends is only normal-

maybe they lied and betrayed you.

He who forgives ends the quarrel,

but he might not talk tomorrow.

You may cause him to see the world blue.

Silence follows an act that’s wrongful

no one says forgiveness is oral

it happens on the inside of you.

He who forgives ends the quarrel

but life is no longer bright like coral

this isn’t the person you thought you knew.

Silence follows an act that’s wrongful.

No more being overly thoughtful

to the friend who admired you.

He who forgives ends the quarrel,

silence follows an act that’s wrongful.
