What does it mean

To have a best friend?

To know someone,

Who considers you family?

A long time ago,

I thought I had this,

But time can twist

Even the strongest of bonds.

One school year in middle school,

I thought I had a best friend,

But all it took was one summer vacation,

To forget absolutely everything about them.

After this fate you’d think,

Surely she’ll make a new best friend!

Well in high school,

I did in fact,

Made a new best friend.

And then,

After high school ended,

I lost all means

Of contact with them.

After that experience,

I am weary,

Of whenever someone calls me

Their best friend,

Since more than likely,

I will lose them again.
