Not a noise could be heard,
This dark and eerie night,
As the cold wind blew
And knocked out all the light.
The black streets filled with gusts of air,
Blowing crispy fall leaves in swirling patterns everywhere.
No one knew as in their homes they bedded down, that this Hallow’s Eve,
ghosts had filled their town.
They crept around invisible to most,
but there were the special few,
who caught glimpses of the ghosts.
The ghosts passed by Susie unaware,
as she colored pictures in her room.
They brushed the shoulder of Susie’s mom, downstairs sweeping with the broom.
They visited Tommy in his workshop down the street, and some wandered into places they once liked to eat.
On this one night, the veil is so thin,
Spirits of the past can visit where they’ve been.
They said boo over shoulders
And made all the sleeping dogs bark,
Before they slipped out, to prowl more
Through the dark.
Over the tombs where their bodies lay,
And through the parks where they all used to play,
In cold breezes out of nowhere,
And in bumps in the night,
Their presence was made known
Inducing great fright.
Many couldn’t sleep on this Hallow’s Eve
As the ghosts crept and creaked,
surrounding all in the town
even those who did not believe.
So remember that there is no escape,
As the ghosts come out to play, you can try to hide,
But this is their time.
It’s Haunted Halloween Day!
