Self-portrait by Paris Rosemont
My rattling need heaves restless inside
my ribcage; disillusion sticks
stubbornly like phlegm coating
bronchial lungs. I cough.
You will not leave me.
I cough harder.
You’re expelled.
I breathe
free.
