Happy You Year

It's time

By Colleen WaltersPublished about a year ago 1 min read

So, it's a new year. A blank canvas. Perhaps a fresh start.

We get one every year, at the same time, and yet for me, this one is different. It feels different.

I'm going to school to get a degree, and it's hard to balance working towards goals and living in the present sometimes. The degree isn't as important as my life. And it's important to keep our eyes on the here and now, to live the days as they come. To not dwell in the past, which robs us of now and future, and to not stress over the future, which robs us of now. When you think about it, right now is all we have. And it's right in front of us, begging to be lived.

Our here and now affects our future, which is a steppingstone to where we want to be. The Bible tells us to live here in the present.“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matthew 6:34 NKJV)

Let yesterday stay in the past, where it belongs. Let the future stay in the future, where it belongs. Listen to your heart, and embrace today. It's right where it belongs and so are you.

May this be the year that you get where you're going, that you find what you're seeking. That your hopes are realized and your dreams are made real.

And do not be afraid to pray. There's no right or wrong way to pray. You may not think God exists or that you're too far gone to be counted or even be heard, but He meets you where you are. Have a conversation with Him. Find joy, find peace or just find your self.

It's a you year.
