Happy New Year Or Not?

I’m gladly bidding adieu to 2022

And readily, welcoming the new- 23

There isn’t much about the last year, that I’m going to miss

And a plethora - I’m looking forward to see

Another changing of the guard

The last few - should have been disbarred

For the crap they allowed on their watch

I hope the captain aboard - can handle the storm

As into the future, boldly we march

The past left behind-

With remnants still in my mind

Pressing forward with hopeful intentions

With each new day, potentially

Becoming a better part of me

with confidence - into 2023
