Happy Halloween
Or Something Like That
Casting a devils net
To see what happens next
Raising your single bet
To see how much I get
Snake eyes and double takes
Escape, a double tap
My turn to stay up late
Lady Luck sits on my lap
Black bats and legless frogs
Howling, like alley cats
Jim beam and junk yard dogs
Signaling where you are at
High hand, the dealer wins
Deuces in black are packed
Promptly confess your sins
Wild hearts beat, cards are stacked
Moonbeams and lucky loot
Wishes on falling stars
Luckier than the rabbits foot
Nearly there, but still too far
Trees really don’t grow the loot
Bad luck and demons curse
The devil smells of death and soot
Dead men wear empty purse
Good luck this hollow day
The raven keeps his watch
Evil steals a vacay
Sipping a shot of scotch

Good one!!
That was awesome! And congrats, Kelli. 💖
What can I say? The imagery, cadences & language you've employed here--sinister, eerie, wicked & I loved every bit of it.

Congrats on the TS
Oh, this is great and perfectly spooky.
Kelli your poem is also dark and edgy, which makes it unique and interesting. I would highly recommend this poem to anyone who enjoys dark and suspenseful poetry.
