haiku poetry

They were planning to

say what they wanted to say

but you seemed to know.

You nodded before

they could say the words out loud

and for the first time.

They were uncertain

of what to do next because

it was no big deal.

They were finally

trying to be them for the

first time in a while.

They were different

they knew, but they felt like they

were seen different.

Different like a

shameful topic unworthy

of discussing it.

Like their difference

was something shameful to hide.

It is not to me.
