Half of my heart
Inspired by my song of the weekend!

Where one past diverges
Into infinite persons
Lies my heart
Beating arduously
In contention it is barred

authors note: (my first one too)
I was listening to “Half of my heart” by John Mayer all weekend, and one line makes me feel all the feels.
“Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring. Half of my heart is the part of a man whose never truly loved anything”
This line especially hits home with me as I feel I act in ways that don’t always represent how I truly feel. Or maybe that I want for things in my life to unfold but I don’t take the steps to make it a reality. This made me reflect on how our hearts constantly splinter into different pieces as we get older, trying to protect us as we adapt to the experiences we encounter. It shapes and shifts it until it looks completely different from when we were young.
Also, I have been trying to use the photos from my camera roll for every post I make. But if I can’t find one that exactly captures what I’m trying to convey, I might use image search engines! I couldn’t find one that exactly was what I wanted for this poem, but I have a lot of landscape photos so I’ll just make use of those(:
