half a heart

a poem

my love for you

takes the best part of me

every time I learn to live again

in one brief moment, your voice soothes frazzled nerves

to fracture them again

into a million invisible splinters

floating in the air without leads

only you could pick them up

and arrange again in a new, neat order

but it never happens and I am left

to my own devices

having less and less hope with each new sunny day

if it rains, I’m glad it can wash away all the pain

breaking my heart in half

I don’t want the other half

the one designed for you

but you don’t want to take it anyway

so I stayed

with a one-time and rare item

few are ready to appreciate it

How often is a heart left unappreciated, or at least not as appreciated as it should be? I would say only rarely not, usually at least one, sometimes even two. And it sucks to high heaven!
