A strange psychedelic experience
Opened a portal
This Psilocybin key unlocked
A previously shuttered window
I was unaware
Lay dormant within me
To pick up an instrument
Observed, but never touched
And claim belonging
Is exhilarating
Hesitant handling of
Exquisite craftsmanship
Ownership of music’s sphere
Happens in stages
Learn notes and chords
Rhythm and pauses
The all-encompassing cadence
Dominion over ear and air
My first song attempted
Blackbird by the Beatles
Years later, I only can grasp
A handful of songs
Yet every time I lift my guitar
From its humble pedestal
Blackbird warms up my fingers
Before something untried
Plucking over strumming
Is my preference
Each note is attended to
Revered resonance.
Within the first few notes
My dog paddles over
To lie at my feet
He too loves the tranquility
Of a classical guitar
Music is math
But melody is art
One day I hope to play
a myriad of songs
With grace and skill
Until then
Everyone in my home
Knows Blackbird
By heart
About the Creator
Aspen Marie
In love with life and all of its foibles.

"Music is math But melody is art" Those lines made me pause and think. So brilliant. And I love that your dog enjoys music too!
Great!
