A light is what I need,

The lantern in my hand.

It will do the deed,

I just need to stand.

I burned the lamp oil,

It guides me through the night.

Now I see blood on the soil,

Everything isn’t right.

_____________________

Heart in my throat,

I follow the road.

My head feels afloat,

My pace is slowed.

______________________

I don’t go far,

My light is dying.

There is a car,

I feel like crying.

________________________

Someone is inside,

Maybe I am saved.

Their throat is slit wide,

The killer is depraved.

________________________

Stuck outside of town,

No one to my rescue.

My hope is crashing down,

I pray I won’t die too.
