The Forgiven, and The Forgotten.

The "I miss you" message

emerged on my phone

from someone who gave me joy

when they left me alone

:

I thought I had blocked them

just to keep my peace in tact

:

Maybe getting a new phone

doesn't transfer

the boundaries over

just like my numerous

lost contacts

:

So I blocked them again

not out of spite

but for self-preservation

:

For as much as I've been hurt

hate is absent in my heart for anyone

:

Hate requires passion

and I just don't have the energy to spend

on someone who has shown me

they aren't worth the effort I once tried to give

:

By hurting me over and over again

without accountability

:

I hold no grudge

but I also don't accept

any peace disturbances

:

Negativity

I once held

expels

when I write

music and words

:

Upon the paper

my thoughts and feelings

have found their ink-stained grave

:

After the acknowledgments

My mind can rest in peace

fact or fiction
