Fortune's Favors
When there's rain, is there always growth?
Do clouds always get a silver lining?
Does fortune favor those with the most?
When there's growth, can it sustain, or is it mowed?
Will some of us always be left pining?
When there's rain, is there always growth?
Where does the energy go after the toast?
It feels like I'm stuck here signing.
Does fortune favor those with the most?
I've been making progress, not to boast.
Though there are imperfections that need refining.
When there's rain, is there always growth?
It helps when my anxiety leaves its post.
In those moments, for courage, I don't need to go mining.
Does fortune favor those with the most?
Through life I want to fly, to soar, not just coast.
This is part of how success I'm defining.

If I were asked to remark on my life and the childhood that paved some road leading me to this point, I would have to say something about all the funny people who surrounded me for the last 26,872 days (and counting). Somewhere along that road, I became a big fan of laughter and the comedy that spawns it – and, I mean not only my own laughter, but the laughter of others, some of which I have actually been responsible for inducing.
