Grief
It tears you up, it hurts your soul, it drags you through the dirt
You spend your time just wallowing, in the sadness and the hurt
Like the lightening flash within the dark
You need to try and find your spark
Walking hills and mountain tops, standing in the rain
Yet nothing on this mighty earth, will wash away the pain
You’ve got to reach within yourself, pull your heart out of the bog
Lest you end up stuck inside yourself, surrounded by a fog
For within grief, soon you will find, a mighty strength in you
Put the pieces back together, do what you have to do
Looking back is not the way, that in this life you face
Forward is the way to go, and at a steady pace
Taking with you all the pieces , of the ones you lost
Not forgetting anyone, not at any cost
You take them with you in your heart, in the very air you breathe
Remembering all the life’s they touched, before they had to leave
Remember smells, the songs and things, that always made you smile
Take them with you every step, of every single mile
And sometimes when the grief creeps back, just remember this
The ones you often think about, it’s quite alright to miss
They smile at you from places, that we are yet to know
And with us every single step of everywhere we go
They’re in the things you do ,and in the things you say
The games you like, the food you eat, the music that you play
Their with us in our little traits, the things that we picked up
They knew that we were strong enough, never to give up
So cry the tears, miss the things, feel upset or scream
But remember they’re within you, and they visit when you dream
