Grandma's Shoes

I don't wear hats

By Margaret BrennanPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Grandma’s Shoes

I used to walk in Grandma’s shoes;

My curls beneath her hat.

I listened to her many poems.

Wished I could rhyme like that.

“Have patience, dear”, she always said.

“The words will start to flow.

When you stop working hard and let

Imagination go!”

Then as I grew, I realized.

She taught me very well.

I write my stories and my poems –

And some I even sell!

My hair still curls; I don’t wear hats,

But here’s the greatest news:

My writing shows without a doubt,

I still walk in Grandma’s shoes.
