Grandma Jean's Love

As long as we hold it with us, we're home sweet home

By Maddie M.Published 4 years ago 1 min read
Home is where the heart is.

Our grandma's love is as endless as the waves upon Lake Michigan

It's brighter than the sun on a summer day at Bradford Beach

It's louder than Barney's Happy Tap, her Dad's tavern where she met grandpa

Our grandma's love is more colorful than 5 rolls of wrapping paper she used each year at Christmas

It's taller than Milwaukee's downtown skyline

It's faster than the cars on Good Hope Road

Our grandma's love is wider than the grand finale of fireworks at Noyes Park

It's sweeter than the sugar atop her apple pie

It's deeper than the roots of the pine trees in her backyard

Our grandma's love is happier than 18 birthday parties

It's thicker than a double deck of Rummy 500 cards

It's longer than one of Grandpa's explanations

Our grandma's love is visible everywhere you look

Everywhere you go

She'd never want you to forget

She'd always want you to know.

So, on every adventure, from camping to state fair

She'll be right there

She even said when she's a ghost

She'll play with your hair

Always keep her in heart

Always keep her in your mind

If you forget, take a look around

She made her love so very easy to find.
