Graduation Day
Our youngest daughter graduated today
On our drive to graduation, I was listening to old country and thinking about how it will be late when we get home, and I won’t feel much like writing. So I said to the hubby:
Let’s write a poem
And he said, What do you want chrome?
To climb a dome?
To go to Rome?
He said, want to mow?
I said, time to slow
down
you clown
He said, Get a gown?
I said it is nonsense
little sense
worth cents
penny accents
He said, just for gent
Some say lent
Don’t get bent!

Driving to Hazelden
for a graduation
for daughter Becky Wight
a real shining light
in life, and so bright.
~
A quick stop for parts
for a wheeler and go-karts
making the best of the miles
~
This started with nonsense
as a warm-up and for smiles
I did some edits to make sense
of my next fundraiser book
to make sure there’s a hook.

After the ceremony, lunch.
Hubby had to have a snack
at his favorite place, any hunch
Yes, it was a bunch of crunch
of a snack, from DQ, he’s a quack.
~
What the hell
This isn’t swell
We got a message
law enforcement
is close said a sage
And everyone is passing
The ceremony was beautiful, and our girl looked great. Except for the flip-flops she wore on her feet. I told her dad that Hazelden Betty Ford is a bit upper crust, so he wore a pair of new black jeans and a nice sweater with his dudes. I approved.
Becky was married when she was in her first year of her graduate program, and they had a baby just 3 months before graduation.

The party after was fun at a place close to the graduation. The room was overflowing with family and friends. More photos were taken. She received some nice gifts, and the food was good. Her mother brought her favorite 7-layer cake, and most everyone enjoyed that.
We made it home in time for me to write this up before going to bed. It was a long and fun day for all involved.
