Why does sadness stick
Like a pinecone
In my throat
The last ten minutes
Of the Wild Robot
Tears flow
Down my cheeks
A constant thread
Of all the things
That can be felt
Why do I feel so sad
Watching a kid’s movie
I’m just tired
Ate too much popcorn
Just need a good night’s sleep
It’s great story telling
The animation is beautiful
Music is evocative
A robot in the wrong environment
Causing harm
In her innocent ignorance
Chooses to take up
The monumental task
Of caring for someone
So utterly dependent on her
For survival
And more
It’s always so much more
My son is asking for more cuddles
And I’m so fucking tired
But the robot did it
And so can I

Sounds like a great movie, not a parent yet, but I can feel the exhaustion through your poem. Remember you are not a robot, you require more rest and breaks.
Well-wrought! Sorrow is one diamond facet of the whole experience, and if we appreciate it in its turn, it renders joy all the sweeter. Kids' movie suggestion, if you haven't already seen it: Kubo and the Two Strings from 2016. Unappreciated, excellent stop motion animation fare in a genre overrun with CGI!
The first thing that came to mind when I saw your title was Ryan Gosling, lol. I have two questions. What's that in your hand in your photo? And what kid's movie is that? Loved your poem! I hope you had enough rest. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️
God, I love that film. I shed tears too!!
