The Meaning of Easter

I gave up the Ghost as I hung on a cross
Perceived to be dead and considered a loss
I paid for the penalty no one else could
The reason one Friday is said to be “Good”
The following day there was work to be done
Was time that I proved that the battle was won
The grave couldn’t hold what the world couldn’t kill
THIS Sabbath was special, there’s heaven to fill
I was for three days sealed away in a tomb
Preparing a place where there’s plenty of room
There’s “mansions” for all, every woman and man
I covered the cost so that everyone can
Surrounded by angels we went for a ride
Went down into Hades, the Paradise side
Yes, only the section the righteous would be
I gathered them up and I took them with Me
Returning alive I remained forty days
Was witnessed by hundreds in various ways
I made it quite clear so the world understands
By showing the nail prints in both of my hands
Easter’s not bunnies and Easter egg hunts
But people’s redemption, it’s sin it confronts
See, Easter’s the plan for humanity, flawed
A plan that prevents separation from God
Hell wasn’t created for man, heaven knows
Though given a choice it’s what many have chose
But you by repenting and choosing to win
You’re free from the judgement created by sin
For one to be saved one need only believe
I rose from the dead for the souls I’ll retrieve
Now faith’s a commodity all can afford
And Easter’s your penalty paid by the Lord
