There he lay on the
gravel, sadly, lifeless now
dead Papa Goldfinch
** Today I found a dead male goldfinch; I have no idea what caused his death. It might have been a building strike or an attack by a cat or hawk. His mate and fledged babies might miss him or not. I know a female is nesting again. 🥲

Well-wrought! This pic makes it seem as if our feathered friend is smiling! I catch sight of them around here, flitting in and out of bushes. Nature did not give them the best camouflage...
Beautiful!
Your haiku captures a poignant moment of loss with striking simplicity, evoking a sense of quiet sadness and the beauty of nature's delicate balance, excellent work, love it, thanks for sharing!
An emotional one. Loved it!
Heartbreaking to find such an elegant bird in a lowly gravel grave.
Goldfinches are such pretty birds and it is sad to see them dead, but that is a life of taking chances as birds do.

It is a hard hard world out there for birds.
