Going, Going, Green

What If Blue And Yellow Got Divorced?

So Blue and Yellow have divorced

Divided, lost and knocked off course

And Green has disappeared from sight

From grass, from leaves, from malachite

From emeralds, aventurine

From lily pads to lima beans

From moss and apples, matcha tea

From my green eyes to jealousy

The mantis prays for your return

Chameleons try to discern

The absence of your vibrant hues

While alligators spread the news

And it’s a struggle to believe

The colour spectrum we perceive

Has changed beyond our reckoning

With other colours beckoning

And it’s not easy being green

Just ask my viridescent team

Kermit, Yoda, Hulk and Shrek

Are looking pale as you’d expect

Could Blue and Yellow reunite?

Remarry in the dead of night?

Still so much colour we can’t see

That falls beyond our frequency

And there’s so much we don’t perceive

If we can’t see, we don’t believe

Just stop and breathe, slow down and trust

That what we’re seeking might find us
