Some will crawl through hellfire to get there,

and others crawl across hot coals to see it again.

Through the worst of it all, some will wait an eternity

and others will continue to fight until they win.

It is the end of the road for many a journey,

for it is there that we all know of warmth and a smile.

Safety is there, a place where none will hurt thee.

It's a place to get to and we'll travel the endless miles.

Fond memories are there,

our thoughts visit frequently.

Strange smells of yesterday in the air,

after our lives we return, happy to be there, completely.

It is never empty, that one place in our hearts,

so we strive to get back there, through the heart of hell if need be.

Through the harshest of times, and the pain of failed starts,

It's one place we feel safe, and always will be happy.

Home is where this magical place be, because

protected, and loved, home is where the heart still is.

Writing has become more important as I live with cancer. It's a therapy, it's an escape, and it's a way to do something lasting that hopefully leaves an impression.
