Genuine

Trying to be what is real in a world where reality is dim

Character shining through from within

Is this the truth or is it a scam?

Why is it hard to be who I am?

I try not to question the things that come my way

Just take them to heart, day by day

It may not make sense, and maybe it’s not time

But it is all for a reason, that’s a belief of mine

I don’t like to hide what I feel, though I do

It brings my sorrows to surface when I fear what is true

Why try to hide it, when it’s really there?

And try to avoid it, like I have not a care???

Today being superficial is the main façade

“Truth” being a concept that is rather broad

Losing sight of the truth more and more everyday

Putting more into these games that we play

I don’t want to hide who I really am

And I don’t want to lie to the world and be damned

Shine forth what is true, in all I have within

And my God, let me be genuine
