Of all my assets,
the garden is a top one.
It has given me fulfillment
in so many ways.
When the pandemic was setting in,
lockdowns were being imposed,
I began developing this backyard space,
to a thriving sanctuary.
No time to panic, or fear.
As Audrey Hepburn said,
“To garden is to hope.”
It’s true.
With my infant sitting in
a lounger chair watching me,
I did the chores, for hours.
No empty mind, no devil’s workshop—
just pure mindfulness
and physical activities.
Lots of dirt and sweat—
but what a treat,
for the body and mind!
Then the plants established,
and kept giving back,
platter after platter of
cornucopia,
to eat, to smell,
to make art with,
to share.
The gardening journey continues,
and I feel grateful everyday,
for all the enrichments
it offers, to uplift me.

Gardening always brought me peace
To garden is to hope, that's a nice quote. Loved your poem!
