Future Me

A Spoken Word Piece

By Micah DavidsonPublished 3 years ago 2 min read

This is a letter to the future

A future that one day I’ll hopefully see

To regulate that I haven’t gone off track

This is a letter to future me

I ain’t too worried about the money

Because I’m sure that your pockets are fat

Because those digits replay in my head

So I know am a continue to stack

So no I’m not worried about the statements

Am guessing they be 6 figures at last

That's the product of me from now

The hard work of yourself in the past

So my concern isn’t the success

I guess, really its everything else

Are you exercising, are you eating right

Are you looking after yourself.

Are mum and dad still around now

Do you go and visit them on a regs

Cherish every moment that you get with them

Cuz 1day they might not get out of bed

And they were the ones who raised you

And you know that they raised you right

So make sure you look after them in their old age

Because they were the ones who gave you life

How are your brothers and sister

I hope you are done with them sibling fights

Because when push comes to shove it was all love

I hope that you and the siblings are still tight

Anyway, how are you doing

Have you settled down now found a wife

I don’t want to hear that you’ve been to busy

Don’t let that success go and ruin your life

Also how are the little ones

By now you must have one or two

Look after them and your nephews and nieces

Because the future belongs to them youths

Anyway, what is it that your doing now

Are you still building another mans throne

Are you shedding blood sweat and tears on a regular

Just to build up another mans home

I know you might be stacking that money

But there's so much more to this life

And if you spend all your days building his dreams

Then you’ll only ever see yours at night

So don’t give up your dreams for the success

Because the success ain't all that tight

In fact, trust me your life would suck less

If you were home half broke with your wife

And if you were home just a bit more

Maybe you would even find time to write

Cause when that paper and pen is in front of you

That's when you truly feel alive

It doesn’t matter if nobody reads it

Or what you have to say still isn't heard

Just get it all down on the pages

Because I know how you live for those words

This is a letter a from the past you

Just to make sure you haven’t gotten off track

My address and time are in the corner

So feel free to send me one back
