A scurry across the unbroken floor,
trying to reach a newly opened door.
Giants walk through while laughing in glee,
soon taking poise to jump and flee.
Around the couch and under the stairs,
watching the intruders who walk like bears.
Soon all gather, cuddle, and cry,
not paying attention to every little eye.
An event begins with people in round chairs,
giving their thanks in but solemn prayers.
Quickly they dive into beasts and dishes,
all before realizing another ones true wishes.
Upon the stool a cry is heard,
all stare but utter no word.
Then a hand reaches forth with a gentle care,
bringing a treat with turkey and pear.
A wish has been granted and it is asked once more,
all but laugh and give in one four.
Satisfied and heavy, an exit soon made,
the fee has been kept, and well is it paid.
Reaching the peak a rest is in order,
for Thanksgiving day brings smiles without border.
The day soon ends and all go to sleep,
and that is how this furry got so deep.
