Frustrating fruits

-

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

shadows that harden over time

A solid note on a old piano

pushed harder and more pronounced

Longer and slower

Deadlier and slower and repeated

You can’t escape your own destination in life

You can’t escape your own body

You own your societal malady

Like a trinket, a pair of jade earrings

Frustrating fruits

Inside of you growing more sure of your

Worth

Wombs that burst life

And I created two lives

Thank you God, for my endless hours of

Feeling Human

The blue face of earth cruelly delving

Into my curves

Reminding me of my womanhood

I am sorry

I am terribly wretched

My fruits are frustrated

Do I want to be the good man?

Do I have the guts

To listen to the deeply hungry, listless men

And travel with them, fearless on a great bright green road?

Yes I am that man

Yes I am that human

That person

Created in truth

A twisted

Fusion of grappling grapes with too much summer juice

Tapped out on the vine

Plucked by the wrong

Lover.

Plucked by the wrong lover. I guess that sadly happens to everyone! Loved your poem!

  • Heart-wrenching surrender to the destiny in which we find ourselves, wondering if it had ever even been possible to choose any other path.
