Truth is born of a mystical seed
Promising to sprout an expansive tree
That grows out of a barren plain
π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£
Once released, the sturdy shoot
Supplies everything it needs
π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£
Water, the stream of life
Springs from its infiltrating roots
Sighs of relief form this new Eden
Trickling out, forming a web of realization
Criss-crossing creeks and rivers flow
Reinvigorating cracked desert
To its once living, lush state
π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£
The trunk shoots up
Elongating
Towards hazy heavens in a
Sturdy hollow vertical formation
Woody partitions grow
With each falsity fallen away
Bisecting heart and ring
π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£
Inhabiting the land, spawning green
The poison of deceit purged from the scene
People are drawn to the
Glistening dew that forms daily
On the broadening leaves in the
Red morning sunbeam gleams
Crawling from their underground retreats
Supplicants, starved for answers
Saved by the harvest of rehydrating fruit
Sprouting daily from shading flowers
Desiccated spirits nurtured
The shelter of veracity
The only saving grace on these
Fear scorched dying plains
π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£π£
It takes only one seed of truth
Planted in the driest, dead earth
For a forest of awakening to
Envelop deadened Heartland

Because I had no memory of my childhood, and kept losing chunks of my memory as I aged, it was easy for family members to lie to me. Their version of events, or lack thereof, was my reality for most of my life. Finally, remembering what happened from my perspective has changed my life completely. You can't build a life on lies; they are a crumbling foundation. Only the truth, and the acceptance of reality and people as they really are, not as we want them to be, for good or ill, can create a healthy environment for us to thrive.

Omggg, I can't believe that they manipulated you like that! Gosh, that's such a betrayal of trust. My heart breaks so much for you πππππ I'm so glad you managed to remember things. Sending you lots of love and hugs β€οΈ
This really struck me, both the poem and the note at the bottom. Truth is like an oasis amongst all the lies, even if it is a painful truth. Only from the truth can we build a true reality. Well written, and good luck on the challenge!
Beautiful poem and a very apt note at the bottom too. Seeing people as they are and not as we want them to be (like you said) is really tough. I like how you circle it back to truth. Loved this!
Heavy with emotion and with wisdom. Thereβs lots of truth and insight in this poem! Also, desiccated is one of my favorite words and you put it to great effect.
