Frozen Boats
Sounds Of Frost
The boats have gone silent
As they sit, frozen in place
The banks are piled high
With the summer’s docks and planks
The masts stand in attention
As winter’s frost comes to take its place
And ice offers redemption
As decks are dressed in crystal lace
The bow begins to moan
As it settles into place
The frigid, gentle tones
And sweet chorus of the lakes
Sing as their languid waves relax
Growing still and apathetic
The hull shivers and cracks
And the frost rises, unsympathetic
As the ice secures its captives
For the whole of winter’s dance
With each new day the moments lapse
Frozen completely in its trance
Stretching to find a better fit
As it hugs the shore a little tighter
And all of nature rolls with it
Until spring returns to revive her

Nice one, Kelli. It stirs up such great visuals of the boats trapped in the ice.
my husband felt the same way when we lived up north. he often said, "when I retire, we're moving to FL"..... and we did.............. now he's too old to take the damn boat out as often as he'd like. ...... oh well, time moves on, no doesn't it?
Stunning ryhmes as always, and a great description of winter at the docks. Well done, Kelli.
Kind of describes a sailboat temporary winter graveyard.
