From Spark to Ashes

Once Burning Bright, Then Dying Embers

By Shanon Angermeyer NormanPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Roasting Marshmallows at the firepit with notions of ghost stories

is not quite the same as Microwavable Ramen Noodle Dinner Surprise.

Singing campfire songs like Kumbaya and Praising the Lord,

is not quite the same as the parking ticket for the broken down RV.

Displaced, disabled, retired, old, achy, and cranky people

learning how to live the Vagabond life as if they are new and improved characters in Steinbeck's sequel novel "The Prunes of Dark Humor".

Where do we go now? Where is the shepherd for those lost lambs?

Centralia, Pennsylvania and Bodie, California, might offer a hand.

Pawnee City, Nebraska, and Pomeroy, Iowa, once had a certain spark.

Gary, Indiana, and Cairo, Illinois, could be more than abandoned parks.

Scottsboro, Alabama, and Picher, Oklahoma know about dying embers;

When a Shepherd isn't there to lead you, be one yourself and RE-Member.
