This angryku perfectly captures that late-fall frustration! I could almost smell the pumpkin spice and feel the piles of leaves underfoot.
Angryku sounds like something I'd write - this was hilarious. Even if I don't necessarily agree. Pot Pourri, like Hannah, I remember that...but not for a couple of decades lol. Not a fan of pumpkin spiced season, John? Wanna know something - this likely shows my curmuggeony old bastard side - I hate that people call it "pumpkin spice season". I'm petty. True. But why can't we just enjoy the occasional pumpkin spice latte without it becoming a season... Anyway. I loved that you used American Gothic. Interesting take on one of those highly debated subject matters. Fine work sir, fine work. Grumpy asshole. Also, here is me being a grumpy asshole lol -Wanted to remind you of the book and ask you to look at the most recent piece and update on progress and the next step involving your input - a bio. Thanks. https://shopping-feedback.today/writers/vocal-poetry-anthology-progress-update-and-requests-part-two%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
You definitely nailed the angryku. Love the title. This art piece. The look on their faces. Tells me that these would be their exact words. Its too much leaves to rake. Lol. Even the hatred for the pumpkin. The last line was a smart use of the word, potpourri. 🤗❤️
Well-wrought! I recall Larry McMurtry in a travelogue once writing something to the effect that when he drove through Missouri he thought of this painting and wondered if the next scene would be the grumpy old man stabbing his wife with the pitchfork or something. Ha! Some parts of the rural Midwest tend to have this effect on people, though I've also many fond memories of hospitality and joy from my rural friends and family.
Bah humbug! But yeah. It's an equally valid side. Except potpourri. I mean, there is no potpourri in my actual life, not for at least three decades. Do folk still have potpourri?
You have summed up the worst of the season in the most adorable way 😂
Thanks so much for the laugh. This haiku was just absolutely perfectly paired with the picture you chose.
Good job, but I do like the pumpkin stuff in small doses. I am ready though for a good pumpkin pie. We all have our likes and dislikes this time of year don't we.
Yeah. Shove your pumpkin-spiced thingamajig and bury it in rotting leaves. Right?
Hahahahahaha this made me laugh so much! Loved it!
Yep. Go with it, John and vent here!
Ha ha! Great entry, makes my curmudgeonly heart smile
I love this. It is so real and honest to the season.
Lol! This is a great take on the challenge! No one else is talking about how annoying those leaves can be!
Tis the season, lol. Hilarious and accurate for a lot of people. Especially the raking!
Hahaha.
Hahahaha - amidst a sea of reflective, wistful, flowery haikus (which I love and have no problem with!!) this is a hilarious and brilliant change of pace!! This made me chuckle, John - love it! :)
