Freedom or Not

I'm just exercising my religious freedom...

She tells me.

She thinks I'm a child murder.

I wish she knew that if I kept my baby, we'd both die.

And if my friend kept hers, there would be some resentment.

And if my younger sister kept hers, her rapist would win.

I'm just exercising my religious freedom...

He tells me.

As he controls our home and life.

And teaches me how to be a wife.

It's in his religion to punish us when we are bad.

To teach me what to wear, say and do.

I'm just exercising my religious freedom...

They tell us.

When they bring back the bible in schools.

Get rid of the gender affirming bathrooms.

Replace Algebra classes with Afterlife masses.

And sex education becomes, how to wait for marriage.

But if it's just exercising religious freedom...

Then what about the Muslim girl who prays multiple times a day?

Or the Jewish boy who's holidays are never time off.

How about the Hindu who can't touch the frog in biology class?

Or the Buddhist, that doesn't want to harm or kill?

And if that's just some of the popular few,

Then what about the freedoms of the lesser known?

Will you teach us about the Norse gods for the Norse Pagan?

Will you let the girl who worships Hecate practice Dephnon?

Can the Satanist explain how they just want free-will

Or is there something else you mean when you say,

I'm exercising my religious freedom...

Because I do not think you'd see it as a freedom

If I were to show you mine.

And I do not think freedom means power.

For power comes in the face of restriction and control.

And freedom it would seem comes from homogenization
